Well, since the last time I updated, there have been some changes. I'm married to Rachel now, I have a job at a bookstore, I've survived a roadtrip to Chicago and back and I've eaten an unhealthy amount of street vendor hot dogs. In short, life is as it should be. The only things that really cause me stress right now are a)Making sure I don't lose my job, b)Canadian bureaucracy, and c)planning trips back to the US. Chicago was a bundle of worry but we managed it and got to enjoy a big Catholic wedding with a bunch of friends. Now we're trying to organize Christmas vacation so that we can spend some time with my newly minted in-laws. In the end though, I've got nothing about which to complain. Today is my first day off in about 10 days so I'm doing my darndest to enjoy it. Ooh! I almost forgot, I have a new scar courtesy of Ikea. I was trying to put our bed together when a surprisingly sharp piece of metal slid across the back of my hand and has left a fairly permanent mark. I don't have a lot of scars so I treasure the ones I do have.

One final note, some friends of mine and I have been bandying about the idea of doing a podcast. I'm extremely addicted to podcasts so the idea of jumping into this stream holds a lot of enticement. The real trick is to figure out how to go about it without sounding like tools. Wish us luck, comrades. Leeman Kessler, signing off. -leeman

Cough Cough!

Well, despite all the dust and dead archaeologists, I am back. As usual, there's been quite the gap and it seems most of the witnesses to this grand experiment are robots but I must update. I discovered that when my name is googled, this place comes up first so I must present a good front to people looking for me. Which should be a larger demographic than I believe it is at present. Big news: I'm done with grad school and have my teaching degree, I'm moving to Canada, I got a haircut and oh yes, I will be married in less than 3 weeks. Ms. Kessler agreed, for some reason, over spring break to be my wife and to all that having and holding business. In two days I journey northward with my parents on what I'm sure will be a rip-roaring adventure. Regardless, I plan on having a magical time. Wish me luck, fellow readers and know that you live in my thoughts always. goodnight, you princes of whatnot. -leeman

Back in the Saddle

Well well. It's been some time since I paid this much attention but I thought I'd return for some mischief. First off, awesome podcasts: geekson and Have Games, Will Travel. Both are incredibly fun and I highly recommend them. You should also know that the new George R R Martin Game of Thrones book came out and it's wonderful. If you haven't read these books then you need to. I'll wait. Other than that, I'm still doing my grad school thing and I've got my exit-exams coming up Saturday. Wish me luck with that as if I don't pass them then I get to spend an extra semester here in Tennessee far far from my beloved. I'll stop there but know that I'm out there, making mischief and living large. -leeman

My friends

My friends are pretty awesome. As anyone who knows me knows, I keep a rather eclectic group around me at all times. Or rather, I should say that they let me tag along. In high school I had good friends even when I wasn't a good friend. In college I made my best friends in a matter of days and now in grad school I've slowly developed an amazing group of people. When I run off to Canada, I'm going to do my best to steal my ladyfriend Rachel's friends. Although I'm sure my DnDing will earn me some by my own effort. Still, for a strange missionary kid who had to start late in 1993 when it came to friend making I've not done so bad. It's sad when I think about the friends I've lost contact with. My friend Jed and I don't talk anymore which is sad and I've had one ex girlfriend Melissa who banned me from contacting for fear that her then fiancee, now husband would leave her. There are others and it's sad. But I am highly blessed and to Rachel, Jack, Tom, Zack, Matt, Mike, Josh, Josh, Ted, Sean, Andrew, Amanda, Kelly, and many more who deserve naming I say thank you for letting me pester you and rob your joy. Now, back to watching Alton Brown. -leeman

Bonjour!

Well, due to my interest in supporting the mammoth Ultracorp Google, I decided to try out this Blogger business. Most of my posts in this crazy intranet are over at my Livejournal but I'll try this business as well. Anywho, as a general introduction in case you found this by accident or need a refresher course, I'm Leeman Tarpley. I'm a 22 year old Missionary Kid from Ogbomoso Nigeria who's going to grad school at Austin Peay for my masters in education and to get certified as a High School Drama Teacher. I am currently in love with a Myopic, Brunette beauty named Rachel Kessler who is a grad student in Toronto getting her PhD in Medieval Studies. I am an avid gamer, loving both computer, console and tabletop varieties. Despite being a Southern Baptist Missionary Kid, I'm still a Christian although these days I'm found most often in the company of United Methodists. I've started bouncing around different forums so to get a good idea about my internet persona, check out this and that.
Well, I think that wraps it up for this intro. I'll try posting here from time to time. If you are offended or intrigued by my going-ons, then continue to visit this little shrine to my narcissism. Otherwise, good day to you.
